Can children and teens use The GP Service?
Yes. We see patients of all ages, including children and teenagers. A parent or legal guardian must be present (or give consent) for consultations involving children under 16. Teens aged 16–17 can consent to their own consultation.
Can you diagnose ADHD?
Our clinicians can conduct an initial assessment of ADHD symptoms and, if clinically appropriate, write a referral letter to a paediatric specialist or CAMHS service for formal diagnosis. We can refer to both NHS and private ADHD assessment providers — often significantly faster than the NHS waiting list.
Can you prescribe ADHD medication for children?
ADHD medication (such as methylphenidate) must be initiated by a specialist. However, once your child has been diagnosed and started on medication by a specialist, our clinicians can support with ongoing prescriptions and monitoring if a shared care arrangement is in place.
My child is struggling with anxiety — can you help?
Yes. Our clinicians are experienced in assessing childhood and adolescent anxiety, low mood, school refusal, and emotional wellbeing. They can provide advice and a clear plan, refer to CAMHS, therapists, or private psychologists — and where medication is indicated for an under-18, it is initiated through an appropriate specialist pathway.
Can you provide medical notes for school or nursery?
Yes. We issue medical notes for school or nursery absence, allergy action plans, medication administration forms, and supporting letters for special educational needs (SEN) or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). All issued during the consultation and emailed to you same day.
My child missed some vaccinations — can you help?
Yes. We can advise on catch-up vaccination schedules for children who have missed doses on the NHS programme, and provide referrals or direct you to vaccination services. We also advise on travel immunisations for children.
Does my child need to be present on the video call?
It depends on the reason for the consultation. For behavioural assessments (e.g. ADHD) or mental health concerns, it's helpful for the clinician to observe and speak with the child. For medical notes or vaccination advice, a parent can attend alone. Your clinician will let you know.
Will my child's NHS GP be informed?
With your consent, we share consultation notes with your child's NHS GP to ensure their medical records stay up to date. This is especially important for referrals and ongoing care coordination.
How much does a consultation cost?
A video consultation is £49, which covers the full clinical assessment. An additional £19.99 administration fee applies where a prescription, referral letter, or medical note is issued — every fee is shown before you pay.
