A fantastic and hassle free service. Got to see a GP straightaway, a thorough consultation, and prescription sent to my nominated Pharmacy which was out of hours, within 30 minutes! The admin. team were great too, as I initially had a problem logging-in to the patient service app, but quickly resolved. I have used this service a few times, most recently today. Despite being remote, the GPs have been unfailingly professional, caring and thorough. I felt they asked a great many questions to understand my condition, then really thought about the best solution for me. They were polite and cared about whether I was happy with their recommended action, they made it easy for me to get the prescription and medication I needed. At a time when it is increasingly hard to see a GP or access any care outside of an emergency (and even then, not easy) this feels like a much-needed service.

What can I request through the consultation?
You can request prescriptions, fit notes, and referral letters. Simply book a consultation slot to discuss your symptoms, condition, or requirements with a qualified independent clinician who will make a clinical decision about your treatment.
Are the clinicians qualified and registered?
Yes. All clinicians working with The GP Service are fully qualified medical professionals, including GMC-registered doctors, GPhC-registered pharmacists, and Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs). Each brings extensive experience in primary care and online consultations.
How quickly will I receive my prescription or fit note?
Prescriptions are typically issued within minutes of your consultation and can be collected from any pharmacy the same day, or delivered to your door within 24 hours. Fit notes and referral letters are issued during your consultation and sent digitally.
Is my consultation confidential and secure?
Absolutely. All consultations are fully confidential and protected by encryption. We are Cyber Essentials accredited, meeting high standards of data security.
Will my NHS GP be informed?
With your consent, we can share consultation notes with your registered NHS GP. This ensures your medical records remain up to date and your ongoing care is coordinated.
What happens if no prescription or fit note is issued?
If the clinician determines that a prescription or fit note is not clinically appropriate, they will explain why and advise you on the best next steps. Your consultation fee still applies as it covers the clinical assessment itself.
Can I use The GP Service at weekends and bank holidays?
Yes. We're open 365 days a year, including weekends, bank holidays, and over Christmas. You can book a same-day consultation any day of the year.
Which pharmacies can I collect my prescription from?
Your electronic prescription can be sent to any pharmacy in England, including Boots, Lloyds, Superdrug, and independent pharmacies. We work with over 6,000 partner pharmacies across the UK.
